Besides Tons of Fun, Why Do We Have Easter Egg Hunts?

Let's admit it, there's something rewarding about watching our kids run around collecting eggs with candy inside.  But how does this connect to Easter, and what is the main idea?
Eggs remind us of new life.  When springtime rolls around, we hear baby birds chirping after breaking out of the eggs in their nests and it tells us that a new cycle of life and hope is here after the winter season.

In much the same way, Easter is really about celebrating the life of Jesus, who broke free of the tomb where He had been buried after dying for us on the cross.  Every human being is broken and far from God on our own, but Jesus came to earth to show us God's love and to die for our sins so we could be made right with God.  When He rose from the tomb on Easter Sunday, we were given hope of life with Him!
